Beautiful Budapest

Our cruise was timed perfectly to arrive into Budapest after dark, with all the beautiful buildings along the riverfront lit up. The slow progress was excellent to marvel at this and that, and oh! Look at that too. The cameras were clicking overtime as we saw one beauty after another, finally arriving at our berth away from the bustle of the city.

Of the whole trip, we agreed that Budapest was the absolute highlight. Our boat was moored on Buda side quite a way down from the main town, so in the morning we got on our bikes to get into the central area for coffee and short exploration on the Pest side.

Wandering around the outside of the beautiful parliament buildings and then cycling over the river and up to Buda Palace. Gorgeous views everywhere.

The afternoon saw us back on our bikes for a guided tour with other English speakers off the boat, diving into the old town ghetto and parks and hearing a bit more about life here over the past 100 years plus. So much sadness and pain, but now a vibrant lively and beautiful city.

It really was a city where every way you turned there was something interesting or beautiful. These photos can’t capture it all, but give a taste of what we saw. We truly appreciated the beauty of this city, it was the highlight of our cruise and we could have easily spent a couple more days taking in the sights and atmosphere.
